Background of Hong Kong Next Generation of Smart ID Card
In Jan of 2015, Security Bureau did a briefing on Next Generation Smart Identity Card System (SMARTICS-2) to the Panel on Security of the Legislative Council. Next Generation Smart Identity Card will use both Smart Chip and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technologies. However, public raised out a lot of concerns on security and privacy issues on RFID. In this seminar, the Smart Card and RFID and Security experts will let you understand those technologies as well as the security and privacy concerns on SMARTICS-2.  

Charles Mok Office, Internet Society Hong Kong , PISA, ISC2 Hong Kong Chapter are joinly together to oraginze this seminar to let the public understanding the importance of the privacy and security concerns against the new technologies.

Speaker: Kenneth Cheung
Kenneth Cheung is currently the Regional Director of Matica Technologies and he also participated in the Smart ID projects in this region such as MyKad in Malaysia and Thailand National ID. Before joining Matica, Kenneth was the Director of Asia Pacific Smart Card Association (APSCA) promoting applications of smart technologies in the areas of electronic identity, secure access, NFC, mobile and innovative payment as well as urban mobility. In this capacity, he was also the Editor-in-Chief of the Identification & Management magazine published by APSCA and had worked closely with industry leaders like NXP, Infineon, ST Microelectronics, Gemalto, Visa and MasterCard, etc.

Frankie Leung is an independent IT security consultant. He is specialized in PKI, Authentication and Encryption technologies. Frankie is the Safenet Certificated Engineer in Certificated Based Authentication Solution. He has over 13 years’ experience to providing solutions on the RFID cards and FRID/PKI Desktop readers. Frankie works actively in CMS (confidential Email Systems) project in HK Government, Smart ID Card Kiosks in Macau Government, RFID Attendance systems in some Casinos in Macau. Frankie also participated the design and implementation of a 7000 pcs of warrant card project (RFID + PKI) for one of the HK Government department.
