Physical security commonly regarded as the first line of defence for information security. Physical security prevents attackers from accessing a device physically. It is even more important than network security but is often overlooked by users and administrators. Regardless of the level of protection of a device from network attacks, physical access to the device by a knowledgeable attacker will probably result in a complete compromise.

Our honourable speaker, Ms. Penny Fung, is an expert in corporate security and is from the International Professional Security Association (Hong Kong). She will share with us her view in this arena.

Ms. Penny Fung

Ms. Penny Fung is a Senior Vice President of Asia Pacific Corporate Security International Services of the Bank of America.

She is the Convenor of the Professional Development Committee of the International Professional Security Association ( Hong Kong ) after her retirement from the Chair of the association which she had held between 1993 and 2003. Penny had also been a member of the Security Services Training Board of the Vocational Training Council between 1998 and 2006, advising the Hong Kong government on training policies relating to the security industry.

Penny has extensive experience on both the preventative and responsive sides of the risk mitigation equation from both the public and private sectors. She served in the Hong Kong Police for 17 years where she spent most of her time in the prevention and investigation of crime including attachments to the Commercial Crime Bureau, Crime Prevention Bureau and various criminal investigation units. Following that she was in charge of security and operations risk management in the North East Asian region of an international bank. She had also spent several years in risk consulting, holding senior management positions in the Asian operations of one of the leading global risk consulting firms as well as running her own independent consultancy firm.
