Business Impact Analysis (BIA) is probably the most important component of your business continuity planning process.

As the name implies, the Business Impact Analysis identifies the exposure and impact of specific threats to your organization. In a BIA, you define and quantify reasons why you need a business continuity plan. The more factual, understandable and informative your BIA is, the better your chances are for success. If your BIA clearly communicates the inherent vulnerabilities within the organization and shows that you are ultimately trying to protect the management, you will win their endorsement, support and funding.
