Dr. Daniel
Chan is the Chief Technology Officer of SYSTEK Information Technology Limited.
Dr. Chan joined the Group in 1998 and has been responsible for technology
strategy as well as product research and development. His valuable work
on promoting the XML technology was acknowledged by an election as one of
the Hong Kong's "Ten Outstanding Young Digi Persons" by the Hong Kong Productivity
Council, Hong Kong Junior Chamber, and Government's Information Technology
Services Department. His success as the ambassador of XML in Hong Kong
is backed by the experience gained from his research activities in Europe
and the role of architect for a family of XML products that is being marketed
worldwide. The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong is using his products for XML
message translation within the new Centralised Clearing and Settlement System
(CCASS/3).
Prior to joining SYSTEK, Dr. Chan worked for the French National Research
Institute for Computer Science and Control (INRIA). Previously, he held
various industrial, academic, and research positions in New World Hotel
Group and Digital Equipment Corporation in Hong Kong, Glasgow University
in the U.K., Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Israel, and Twente University
in the Netherlands. Dr. Chan is a Chartered Engineer of the Engineering
Council of the U.K. He also serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor and
a member of the Advisory Committee of the Department of Computing of Hong
Kong Polytechnic University. In addition, he is an adviser to Information
and Communication Technology for the Trade Development Council.
